The Best Electric Pickups For 2023
While there aren’t a lot of electric pickup trucks on the market currently, it’s only a matter of time before there will be a ton of options as manufacturers look to integrate EV technology into their line of pickups. As we look forward, this is a good opportunity to review the electric pickups that are available and detail some of the options they bring to the table. These are the best electric trucks on the market for 2023.
Ford F-150 Lightning
It was a natural progression for Ford to make an F-150 model that was electric since it was already one of the most popular and best-selling models in the industry. There’s not a lot of difference between a standard F-150 and the Ford Lightning, other than the electric power train. It still has a towing capacity of nearly 8,000 pounds, putting it in line with many of its combustible engine brethren. As electric pickups go, the F-150 Lightning offers a solid 240-mile range, that can be boosted up to 340 miles with the extended range battery option.
Rivian R1T
Rivian is a relatively new auto and technology company and the R1T is their first offering, hoping to make a splash in the off-road pickup and EV market at the same time. The result is a stylish looking pickup that has great off-road capability as well as a comfortable and luxurious on-road driving experience. The first electric pickup to hit the market, the R1T is compact compared to the other trucks on this list, but it still offers plenty of punch. It has tremendous acceleration, as well as the most towing capacity of an EV pickup at 11,000 pounds.

GMC Hummer EV
With advanced technology features and high-performance capability, the GMC Hummer EV is unlike any other electric pickup available. It features a driving range of over 300 miles and tremendous off-road capability, along with a few bells and whistles that all it to tackle challenges that other EV pickups cannot. It has a mode that raises the pickup an additional 16 inches off the ground, as well as a “crab” mode that allows drivers to steer diagonally around obstacles while off-roading. Its towing capacity sits at 7,500 pounds, which falls short of some of the other options here, but it offers enough comfort and safety features to make it a quality choice if you’re looking for something unique.
Chevrolet Silverado EV
The Silverado EV has the best range of any electric pickup on the market, which can reach up to 400 miles. It’s also a capable towing truck since it can pull up to 10,000 pounds and will be outfitted with fast-charging technology that allows it to charge quicker than other EV trucks. Thanks to a midgate, the Silverado can be outfitted with more storage space than other trucks as well, but the downside is that it hasn’t yet been released so the best you can do at this point is put in a reserve in anticipation of its Fall 2023 release date.

Lordstown Endurance
While currently only available in very limited numbers, the Lordstown Endurance is just starting to throw its weight around in the EV pickup competition. What we do know is that it has a futuristic design and a hub motor system that provides excellent vehicle control and, hopefully, less maintenance requirements over the life of the vehicle. Thanks to the four individual hub motors, it offers a genuine four-wheel driving experience that makes it ideal for off-roading.
